Cage, 2025
Wood Logs, Used T-shirts, Clay
This work represents the exploitation faced by garment workers worldwide, not just in Bangladesh. The garment industry often becomes a “capitalist cage,” trapping workers in unsafe and unfair conditions. I focus on the 2012 Tazreen factory fire, where many workers died after being forced to keep working despite the alarm. The fabrics I used come from different countries, symbolizing global garment labor. The form is inspired by Hindu funeral rites, with the body covered except for the feet, reflecting the sudden and tragic deaths caused by this exploitation.
